Mr. Cohn is primarily a litigator, devoting much of his professional time and effort to determination of contested cases by litigation, arbitration or mediation. He has handled matters involving family law (including divorce and custody), personal injury (including product liability and malpractice), employment law (suits for harassment and wrongful termination), contested probate matters and actions determining disability insurance coverage. He has been principal litigation counsel to Interchange Bank, successfully representing the Bank and its officers in significant litigation matters. He also maintains an active practice as an appellate advocate. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and was selected as one of the Best Lawyers in America and a New Jersey Superlawyer. He has been rated “AV” by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating possible.

In addition to full-time practice, for 26 years, he was an adjunct professor at Rutgers (Newark) Law School, where he taught Appellate Advocacy. In this regard, Mr. Cohn has argued numerous cases before the Appellate Division and the New Jersey Supreme Court. He is a former trustee of the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education. Thirteen of his fifteen years on the Board were as Chair. He was the 1994 recipient of the prestigious Alfred C. Clapp Award in Legal Education presented annually to a single judge or attorney in the State of New Jersey for excellence in legal education. Mr. Cohn received a Special Achievement Award from ICLE in 2007.

Mr. Cohn is a former Master of the Morris Pashman Inn of Court and served on its Executive Committee. He is a member of the permanent faculty of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy in New Jersey. He is certified as a Civil Trial Attorney by the New Jersey Supreme Court and was a member of the first group of attorneys so certified.

He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the New Jersey State Bar Association, where he was a Delegate to the General Council for many years. In addition, Mr. Cohn is a member of the Bergen County and Passaic County Bar Associations. He has been a Trustee of the Bergen Bar Foundation since 2007.  Mr. Cohn is a Fellow of the American Bar Association Foundation and a former Trustee of the Legal Aid Society. He has been a Trustee of the Harvard Law School Association of New Jersey since 1988 and previously served as Treasurer, Secretary, and President of the organization. In addition, Mr. Cohn served as President of Temple Shomrei-Emunah, Montclair, New Jersey. He was a trustee of New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players (NYGASP) from 1992-1998 and has been a Trustee Emeritus since 2006.  Mr. Cohn is also a member of the Council of Trustees of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (2007-).

Mr. Cohn received his J.D. from Harvard University and his B.S. from Georgetown University, cum laude.
