Paralegal Barbara Blumberg has long been a substantial contributor to the All Wrapped Up holiday drive at Cohn Lifland. Following the 2019 effort, she decided she wanted to go beyond the once-a-year giving mindset and determined, on her own, to undertake a year-round effort to buy (at deep discount) toys and other small gifts for needy children in Bergen and Passaic Counties. Helped by a storage closet generously donated by Clinton Avenue Reformed Church in Bergenfield, Barbara spends her spare time all year prowling local retail outlets for large quantities of discounted items. She buys, assembles and distributes thousands of toys to hundreds of children through various organizations. One of those organizations is the Order of the Franciscan Nuns at the Franciscan Community Development Center, who recently recognized her with a “Certificate of Appreciation,” which said, “Your generous support demonstrates how our Community can make a powerful different in the lives of those in need.”
