At Cohn Lifland, we believe that being an attorney means more than representing clients in the courtroom — it also means investing in the future of the legal profession and our communities.
That is one of the many reasons why our attorneys regularly volunteer their time, experience, and mentorship through professional and educational organizations throughout New Jersey. Recently, our partner Walter M. Luers participated in the New Jersey State Bar Foundation Mock Trial Program, helping students gain firsthand exposure to the legal system and the advocacy skills that are central to the practice of law.
The Mock Trial Program gives high school students across New Jersey the opportunity to prepare and present simulated legal cases in a courtroom setting, developing critical thinking, public speaking, teamwork, and analytical skills along the way. Volunteer attorneys and judges play a vital role in the program by serving as evaluators, mentors, and role models for participating students.
For many students, programs like this provide a first look into the legal profession and the importance of civic engagement. By volunteering with initiatives like mock trial, attorneys can help encourage professionalism, confidence, and respect for the judicial process in the next generation.
At Cohn Lifland, we are proud that our attorneys dedicate their time to professional leadership, mentorship, and community involvement beyond their day-to-day legal practice. We believe these efforts strengthen not only the legal profession, but also the communities we serve.
We thank Walter for continuing to represent the firm through his commitment to service and legal education. Check out NJSBF’s volunteer highlight video to see all that goes into the program and find out how you can participate.
