Cohn Lifland is pleased to announce that Walter M. Luers, Practice Group Leader of the firm’s Civil Rights and Open Public Records practice, will serve as a panelist for the New Jersey Institute for Continuing Legal Education’s upcoming program, “OPRA: What You Need to Know in 2026,” tomorrow, September 30, 2026.
The live webcast, presented in cooperation with the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Local Government Law Section and Media Law Special Committee, will bring together experienced practitioners to discuss the current state of New Jersey’s Open Public Records Act following the significant amendments enacted in 2024.
The program will address a range of issues arising under the amended OPRA, including expanded exceptions to public records, privacy protections, requirements for OPRA requests, restrictions involving pending litigation, anonymous requests, commercial requestors, special service charges, and the effect of the amendments on prior case law.
Walter will join fellow panelists, Dominic P. DiYanni, Samora F. Noguera, and Michael D. Witt, with F. Clifford Gibbons serving as moderator.
