Generally the Statute of Limitations for a personal injury case is two years from the date of the accident. If the Defendant is the State of New Jersey or some other municipal entity you generally must serve a Tort Claims Notice within 90 days of the accident. Failure to do so may doom your claim. Municipal entities include counties, towns, Boards of Education, Police and Fire Departments.
