Cohn Lifland is proud to announce that our partner, Joseph A. Maurice, has been appointed by the Director of the Office of Attorney Ethics (OAE) to serve as Secretary to the District IIA Ethics Committee for Bergen County, effective June 1, 2024.
The Secretary’s role is key to the purposes of the attorney discipline system, which protects both the public and the reputation of the bar. Under the court rules, the Secretary is responsible, among other things, for ensuring careful adherence to the Rules of Court for the processing of grievances and of docketed cases within the time goals set by the New Jersey Supreme Court.
Mr. Maurice previously served on this ethics committee as an investigator, Vice-Chair, and Chair.
